Medical Emergency Bands for Holocaust Survivors

Israeli ministry, Helping Hand Coalition, has been distributing medical emergency bands to Holocaust Survivors across Israel.

The project was a joint partnership between Helping Hand Coalition and MyMDband together with Crowdmii (a crowdfunding platform) and Israeli volunteer emergency services.

Many Holocaust Survivors suffer from multiple medical conditions as a result of appalling living conditions during the Holocaust. The MyMDband medical emergency bracelet holds vital medical information about the patient that can be accessed immediately by an emergency responder using a mobile phone.
"MyMDband is a medical bracelet that provides emergency medical personnel with instant access to the medical information they need, when it is needed most. When every second counts, knowing the patients existing medical conditions, medications, medical devices and allergies can be the difference between life and death. This technology is particularly valuable for the elderly and people with existing medical conditions, such as Holocaust survivors. Using the built in GPS of the smartphone that is accessing the bracelet, emergency contacts are automatically notified that their loved one is in need of assistance and provides them with their location. In addition, the MyMDband bracelets being provided to Holocaust survivors have been integrated with the United Hatzalah emergency first responder dispatch centre to provide immediate response." Helping Hand Coalition have been inviting Holocaust Survivors to come to various community centres around Israel to receive a free medical band. Information about their personal medical conditions are collected during their visit and then medical volunteers will visit them at home at regular intervals to keep the information up to date. So far, enough funds have been raised to provide MyMDbands to 1,500 Holocaust Survivors.

The first distribution took place in the northern city of Tiberius with subsequent deliveries to Or Akiva and Binyamina in central Israel and Beer Sheva, Ofakim, Sderot and Rehovot in the south. The Survivors were absolutely thrilled to receive their bands and sent many blessings and loving regards to all the sponsors and donors.

We bless Helping Hand Coalition in this amazing project that not only provides practical help and assistance to Holocaust Survivors but also speaks volumes emotionally - showing they have not been forgotten and that people care about what happens to them.
