8 Day Journey - DAY THREE

LIFE FROM THE ASHES
The hall had been set up ready for a service. Rows of chairs faced a speaker’s rostrum and musical equipment was plugged in and ready.

What a joy to see these elderly men and women, in their 70s, 80s and 90s, worshipping the Lord with all their hearts! As children and young adults, these individuals had experienced horrendous atrocities, some in Concentration Camps, some hiding from the Nazis in forests in sub-zero temperatures and others terrified of being found while they hid in basements and attics. All had lost families, homes, identity, a normal life, but all had been led to come ‘home’ to Israel.
As we watched this unique congregation express their worship to their Messiah Yeshua, we were reminded of a verse in Isaiah, that to all who mourn in Israel, God will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning and praise instead of heaviness. They will be planted like strong and graceful oaks for his glory! And indeed they have been!
