Celebrating Women

On March 8th, the world celebrated Women’s Day and took time out to honour women for their achievements and contributions to society. A Foodbank, run by Dugit Outreach Centre in Tel Aviv, decided to take this opportunity to reach out to the women that visit their centre. Many of these women come from very difficult situations and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to bless them.

Dennis and Nadia, who manage the Centre, had it on their hearts to shower these women with love and honour them for their strength and courage.

They rented a hall in a hotel for the evening and invited some professional musicians (who know the Lord) to perform and share their testimonies. A female Pastor was also asked to give an inspirational talk.  She was able to share in a beautiful way from the testimony of her own life, how much God can do with someone who fully commits their life to Him. She truly touched the hearts of all who were present.  After the testimonies had been shared, more than half of the group came to the front and asked for prayer from the Dugit staff. Some were prayers for health, others for blessings, and some to feel God’s love in their lives.

After this time of fellowship and ministry, the ladies enjoyed a fabulous buffet dinner in the hotel.

“As they sat and enjoyed the meal, the sound of joy and laughter could be heard throughout the hall,” shared one of the Dugit staff. “You could see on their faces that they were relaxed and enjoyed their time. It was a welcomed break from the reality of the struggle of living in Israel today.”

“The response to this evening was outstanding, and all the glory goes to God for making this happen! “ shared another staff member, “Our desire was to convey to these particular women, who live in conditions far below the average standard of living, that Yeshua loves them as a Father loves his child. As the evening came to a close, one after another the ladies came to us and thanked us with tears in their eyes for the honour and love they had felt.”

These women were not believers, they would have had very little knowledge about Yeshua (Jesus) and would certainly not have thought he had anything to do with them as they came from a Jewish background. Their openess to hear the testimonies of Yeshua’s love and to respond was truly amazing in this context.

Praise God for the success of this evening. Dennis and Nadia are planning other special events to give a sense of dignity and worth to people in Tel Aviv who are used to feeling at the bottom of the pile. What a great opportunity to share Yeshua’s love for each one.
“It is so amazing to see how much the love of God can make a difference in the lives of these precious people! Please continue to pray with us for their salvation as well as their physical needs,"
